The Regional Meeting Committee’s purpose is to support meetings to improve the health of the country/region of the applicant through the education of dermatologists and to encourage meeting attendees to join the global ISD community of members.
By co-sponsoring various national and regional dermatological meetings, the ISD intends to:
Provide scholarships to young dermatologists and trainees to attend meetings.
Encourage new members in ISD.
Provide education to physicians with new knowledge and tools for patient care.
Applications will be accepted for both in-person and virtual meetings.
Funding up to $5,000 will be provided for in-person meetings and funds up to $1,000 for virtual meetings. Meetings that change from in-person to virtual meeting will be funded as virtual meetings. Virtual meetings must have a minimum of 100 participants.
Meetings will not be funded in consecutive years; however, organizers may apply every other year.
National and regional dermatological societies may request co-sponsorship of ISD for their meetings by completing and signing the following application form.
Applications will be reviewed based on the following criteria:
Past funding and performance.
Size of meeting.
Promotion plan to recruit ISD members
Support of young dermatologists.
Importance of meeting, i.e., what gaps does it fill to further physician knowledge and practice.
Rational budget.
Promotion of your meeting
How does the meeting help ISD achieve its goals stated above?
ISD anticipates that 5-10% of paying registrants will join the society. For example, if there are 100 paying attendees, ISD would have 5-10 new members. Repeat funding is contingent on achieving this goal. A report on new members must be sent within 30 days following the meeting. If memberships are obtained after the meeting, the applicant society has one year from the meeting start date to report the new memberships and achieve the 5-10%.
Local members of the organizing committee must be ISD members.
Organizers agree to accept shipments of newsletters and to pay for any customs fees. If necessary, those fees should be part of budget if ISD funds are used. Alternate plans may include printing locally.
Applications for the 2024 meeting year are due at least 6 months in advance of the meeting and no later than October 31, 2023. The ISD Regional Meeting Committee will review the recommendations and recommend acceptance and funding to the ISD Executive Committee. Applicants will be notified as soon as their requests are granted
