Bid for 2022 Continental Congress of the International Society of Dermatology (ISD)

The International Society of Dermatology (ISD) is inviting proposals to host the 2022 Continental Congress of Dermatology of the ISD. The deadline for the 2022 submissions is November 1, 2020.

Normally, the CCD coincides with the host society’s Annual Meeting or another national/regional professional meeting. Holding the meetings together maximizes the attendance of local members while encouraging more regional and international attendees. The size of the meetings ranges from 500 to over 1500 conference attendees.  The bidder must have the support of the host society’s board of directors.

The meetings usually last from 2 to 4 days and ISD participates in the congress in several ways.

  1. ISD will provide a grant of $15,000 to support $15,000 in travel awards given as ISD Global Education Awards (selected by the ISD Education Committee) with a special session for oral presentations that includes the awardees (as well as Maria Duran fellows; see below).
  2. The ISD will present its annual Maria Duran Lecture at the CCD. This lectureship is selected by the ISD Maria Duran Committee and the awardee receives a $2,000 stipend to offset travel costs to the meeting.
  3. The ISD awards 1-2 Maria Duran Fellowships each year as well, and the awardees are also expected to present at the CCD. Each recipient receives $1,000 to offset travel expenses. These fellows can present in the same session as the Global Education Awardees (see above).
  4. All in all, this means there will be a total of ~16 Global Education and Maria Duran Awardees. This helps you increase the number of international presenters at the meeting.
  5. The ISD will advertise the CCD on its web site, at meetings like the AAD and EADV where ISD exhibits, and in its publications. One or more ISD Executive Committee members will attend, and you may also invite them to speak.
  6. The host societies do share a portion of their revenues with ISD which is normally a per registrant fee based on your country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita. The scale is described on page 2 in the attached generic agreement.

If you are interested in submitting a letter of intent, please send the following information to us.

  • Dates, Location of Planned Meeting
  • The preliminary program
  • The preliminary list of speakers
  • Anticipated number of attendees
  • The list of local organizing committee
  • The preliminary budget including registration fees
  • English is currently the language of international meetings. If your congress is not in English, how do you propose to accommodate English speakers for presentations and as audience members.
  • A letter of intent must accompany the application which indicates that if selected the applicant is willing to sign the agreement within 90 days of notification.

If you are interested, please respond by November 1, 2020 to be considered for 2022.

We appreciate your interest and look forward to working with you in the future. If you have any questions, email Cindy Froehlich at info@intsocderm.org.
