The Maria Duran Medals  for 2008 were awarded to Prof. Wilma Bergfeld, MD of USA and Prof. Rachel Birnbaum of Israel during the ISD Reception in San Antonio, Texas, USA.

The Maria Duran Lecturer for 2008 was Prof. Dedee Murrell of Sydney, Australia. She delivered her lecture during the 32nd Annual Convention of the Philippine Dermatological Convention,  in conjunction with the International Society of Dermatology.  Her expertise is in the field of epidermolysis bullosa and autoimmune blistering disorders.

The Maria Duran Fellowship for 2008 was awarded to Dr. Rashmi Sarkar of India. She gave a poster presentation during the  32nd Annual Convention of the Philippine Dermatological Convention,  in conjunction with the International Society of Dermatology, which was held on November 19-21, 2008.  The meeting was coordinated by Evangeline B. Handog, MD, Chair of the Maria Duran committee.
